1.2.7.1 Shipyard - Building - Upholstery - Insulation

Insulation (update: 30 January 2008)

Fig. 7.1. a, b, c, After much of reading, studding and comparing, closed-cell synthetic rubber Armaflex AF 16mm from Armacell is to be used throughout for insulation above the waterline. After acid etch of the aluminium surface, the ARM520 glue holds the foam to alu like nothing we have seen before – good stuff. The result is an extremely neat and pleasing surface. Despite Tomas is getting more skilled and ever faster in laying arma-sheets (c), we did not manage to insulate the whole boat before winter 2007/8. Steve Dashew has also something to say about armaflex insulation.

All photos taken on 1.10.2007 and 19.10.2007 respectively a.D.
