Fig. 1.2.9 p, r, s, t ... first trial where the new Nestor 5754 (2.5mm plate) meets the old one (alustar 3mm plate). The second version is a bit lighter, however, as stiff if not stiffer as the 3mm alustar version due to much improved technology used. Side plates are a little bit rolled on english wheel and the sheer tube is slightly bigger in diameter then on alustar version - this together gives the boat better structural strength in comparison with the alustar version. However, the two adjoining frames of the 5754 version are still made of 3mm alustar aluminum (5059 H321) and the back plate for engine mount is reinforced by using 4mm alustar (5059 H321). 30mm in diameter 6083 tube is welded around the rim, reinforced in corners with the same tube size which also serve as handles. The boat can easily support 400+ kg of weight (Fig. 1.2.9t) with enough freeboard to take an extra barrel or two of beer on top of those five blokes (another 100kg?). Of course and needless to say that the load would not comply with ISO 12217-3 ;) (see also next). |
